Remembering Princess Diana
Most people will remember Princess Diana as a celebrity and member of the royal family, hiding from cameras and paparazzi. But the princess worked endlessly with the Landmine Survivors Network to outlaw landmines. She drew worldwide public attention when photographed wearing a flak jacket and helmet in Angola. Later, she gathered nations together to sign the Ottawa Treaty in 1997. This created an international ban on the use of anti-personnel landmines. Some nations however have still not signed the treaty.
