Backpacking Couple Found a Lovely Hotel in Brisbsane

My husband and I flew into Brisbane with only our backpacks and an adventurous spirit.  We had just been all over Southeast Asia and were ready for a little R&R in Australia.  We had no reservations for any hotels in brisbane but after a quick look online at an Internet cafe we found one just around the corner that really seemed to suit our budget.  It was really nice with a lot of amenities and we found the staff to be friendly and helpful.  We got some great information about all there was to do and see and it ended up being a memorable leg of our trip.

Hampton Inn downtown Providence

I have been a traveling salesman for over 30 years. One of the nice benefits that I have appreciated is the growth of clean, affordable and well staffed hotels. When I started in sale way back when I often had to stay in flea invested rooms because that was the only accommodations available in town. Nowadays the rooms are  spotless, the hotels are safe and they even give you a free hot breakfast in the morning. I got a bargain rate on a Hampton Inn providence hotel it had everything I ever would want in a hotel. The use of a business office in the lobby area has really made and saved me a lot of money.

Owl’s Head Light: Frozen in Time

While there are many majestic Maine lighthouses along the state’s rugged Atlantic coastline, one of the most overlooked is the one overlooking Rockland Harbor. Dubbed one of the most “picturesque lighthouses in Maine”, the small white brick tower sits high on a rocky headland near the entrance Rockland Harbor in the Town of Owl’s Head. Built in 1825 and automated over 100 years later in 1989, the 30-foot high station, and its Fourth Order Fresnel (1856), is still operating as an active U.S. Coast Guard aid to navigation. Along with its fixed white light, the station’s fog signal emits two blasts every 20 seconds. Though not open to the public, the keeper’s house (1854) serves as housing for Coast Guard personnel.  Two of the station’s most famous tales include man’s best friend and a pair of red hot lovers who almost came to an icy end. According to legend, a former keeper’s dog saved a mailboat in distress by “barking continuously” when the station’s fog bell was buried in snow. The other story tells of two lovers who became trapped in a storm-wrecked schooner. Huddling together to stay warm, and quite possibly to make the most from their last moments together, they froze solid within each others arms. The keeper found them in what was described as some form of “icy cocoon.” He managed not only to rescue them from their icy embrace, he thawed them out, they survived and they went on to get married! (Whether they went on to live happily ever after, is unknown.)

Buses from Agra

It is during the Mughal era that Agra gained the greatest eminence. After Emperor Shah Jahan’s death, Delhi became the seat of government and Agra gradually lost its political and cultural eminence but never the magnificence of its monuments. In 1764, the Jats seized Agra and then the Marathas and the Mughals in turn. In 1803 it came into British possession for Buses from Agra. During the first unsuccessful uprising and revolt of 1857 Agra did not play any significant part? The present day Agra is like any other leading Indian city, business and tourist centre and still retains the grandeur and elegance of its historical monuments.

Brighton Voters Consider an All Female List

Brighton Short Breaks recognises Brighton and Hove evidencing its as the most Right On townin the this week with the occurance that it is the first time  a parliamentary election has ensured an all-female listing of candidates .

20 years after Mrs Thatcher broke governmental ground  by becoming  the first ever Prime Minister the complaint that the foyers of Westminster are still a masculine reigned club  ring just as loudly as ever! So, Brighton and Hove’s totally female  short list of Parliamentary campaigners generates some boost to a prospective future shift of ground in the sexuality balance in the political power arena .

Being cited in The Argus , Fawcett Society chief executive Ceri Goddard said: “If all the candidates are women that is cause for celebration but also concern that it has taken until 2009, whereas all-male elections are still the norm.

“The voters if Brighton can be pleased that whom ever they elect they will be a step closer to closing the gender gap in parliament where currently less than 20% of our MP’s are women – less than Iraq, Afghanistan and Rwanda.”

‘Less than Iraq, Afghanistan and Rwanda……… ‘ - personally that particular statement left me somewhat upset about the state of our political domain and speculative as to the reasons for male domination above and beyond the onetime precedence that gentlemen should have it entirely their own way - and its a whole Pandoras box of debate that is nicest left for some other time .

But my role here today is as - as always - to fly the flag for Brighton and Hove and show how advanced intending and politically alive our population  is, and having  a ratio of men to women in parliament  more typical of the population, is in my thought, a pace in the true direction!

The Colombia Embassy Website

My brother works for a company that has offices in Colombia, and when he started working there he assured me that he didn’t have any plans to transfer out of country. But he’s been there for a few years now, and when he was offered a promotion if he transferred, he excitedly took it. He’ll only be there for about a year, and has already visited the Colombia Embassy website to fill out his visa application. I’m not mad that he is going, of course, I’m just going to miss my little brother! After all, calling Colombia is probably going to be too expensive to do too often!
